Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign DB Kerfalla Exume and LB Jared Beeksma

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive back Kerfalla Exume and added linebacker Jared Beeksma to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Kerfalla Exume is six foot and weighs 197 pounds. The 29-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, was released by the Montreal Alouettes last week. He did not play for the Alouettes in 2023 with a shoulder injury. He previously signed a contract extension with Montreal in February.

In 2022, he made six tackles in 18 games for the Alouettes. In two seasons with Montreal, Exumé has 24 tackles in 32 games.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers drafted Exume in the eighth round (70th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Exumé had 25 tackles in 18 games for the Blue Bombers when they won the 2019 Grey Cup. In 2021, Exumé signed with the Alouettes as a free agent.

Collegiately, Exume played four seasons at the University of Montreal (2015-18) with 26 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 22 games for the Carabins.

Jared Beeksma is six foot two and weighs 220 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cambridge, Ontario, was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 4th.

Beeksma signed with the Ticats on August 1, 2022, and played six games with one tackle. That tackle came against the Montreal Alouettes on August 20, 2022. He made his CFL debut on June 24, 2022, against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Before Hamilton, Beeksma signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on July 21, 2022, after the Ticats released him on July 10, 2022. The Ticats drafted Beeksma in the fifth round (46th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Beeksma played four seasons at the University of Guelph (2017-19, 2021) with 77 tackles (63 solo, 52 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, and six pass breakups in 39 games for the Gryphons.
