Will Brown and Kai Allen take wins at Townsville

Will Brown leading the field to Turn 1 in Race 16 of the NTI Townsville 500

On Saturday, the Dunlop Super2 Series and the Repco Supercars Championship visited Reid Park Street Circuit in Townsville, Queensland, for the NTI Townsville 500.

In the Dunlop Super2 Series, Aaron Seton started on the pole with Kai Allen making up the front row. The race saw a major crash on the first lap when Mason Kelly and Chris Smerdon got together at Turn 12 which resulted in Kelly suffering a broken steering.

Kai Allen took the lead on the first lap and never looked back. He won the race by 4.4 seconds over his teammate Cameron Crick. The rest of the top ten finishers were Aaron Seton third, Aaron Love fourth, Zane Morse fifth, Cooper Murray sixth, Ryan Wood seventh, Zak Best eighth, Zach Bates ninth, and Matt Chahda tenth.  In Race 16 of the Repco Supercars Championship, Will Brown started the race on the pole with David Reynolds making up the front row. Brown survived a first-lap clash with Shane van Gisbergen. However, Brown lost the lead to Cam Waters.

Brown would regain the lead on lap 16 when he passed Broc Feeney. However, Brown would pit on lap 30 and Chaz Mostert was the new leader. Mostert pitted on lap 42 and Will Brown regained the lead and won the race by 3.3 seconds over Broc Feeney.

It was Brown’s fourth win of the season. The big story of this race was Anton De Pasquale’s car had electric issues and finished in 25th place.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Chaz Mostert third, Shane van Gisbergen fourth, Cameron Waters fifth, Scott Pye sixth, Andre Heimgartner seventh, Bryce Fullwood eighth, James Courtney ninth, and Will Davison tenth.
