Over the weekend, IMSA visited Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Chevrolet Grand Prix. The touring series featured the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, Michelin Pilot Challenge, and the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The VP Racing SportsCar Challenge held two races at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. On Saturday, Jonathan Woolridge (LMP3) won with the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports Ligier JS P320, and Michael Cooper (GSX) won in the No. 48 Accelerating Performance Porsche. Each driver started second in their respective classes.

On Sunday, Dan Goldburg in the No. 73 JDC MotorSports Duqueine D08 won race two in LMP3, while Gregory Liefooghe in the No. 48 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 took the win in GSX.

In the Michelin Pilot Challenge, Robert Megennis and Cameron Lawrence in the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW initially won the race but were assessed a pair of penalties following postrace technical inspection for a refueling time less than the minimum permissible and also found to be under the minimum allowed weight.

Therefore, the No. 50 Toyota GR Supra of Billy Johnson and Parker Thompson won the race in GS. In TCR, the No. 17 Unitronic/JDC-Miller MotorSports Audi of Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor won their first race of the season after starting on the pole. They beat the No. 33 Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb Agajanian Hyundai Elantra of Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens.

In the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Renger Van Der Zande and Sebastien Bourdais started the race on the pole. In addition, Wayne Boyd and Anthony Mantella won the pole in LMP3, Loris Spinelli and Misha Goikhberg won the pole in GTD, and Ross Gunn and Alex Riberas won the pole in GTD Pro.

However, Chip Ganassi Racing had brake issues and crashed with five minutes left of the race which ended the race. Meyer Shank Racing’s Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun won in GTP, and Riley Motorsports drivers Gar Robinson and Felipe Fraga won in LMP.

Corvette Racing’s Jordan Taylor and Antonio Garcia won in GTD Pro, and Paul Miller Racing’s Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow won in GTD.
