Ottawa Redblacks sign quarterbacks Tyrrell Pigrome and Jake Dunniway

The Ottawa Redblacks signed quarterbacks Tyrrell Pigrome and Jake Dunniway on Tuesday. This comes after Ottawa lost quarterbacks Jeremiah Masoli and Tyrie Adams for the season due to torn ACLs.

Tyrrell Pigrome is five foot ten and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, was released by the Blue Bombers on June 27th. He was on the Blue Bombers practice squad in 2023. He played two preseason games completing 7 of 10 passes (70%) for 108 yards, one touchdown, 10 carries for 114 yards, and two touchdowns.

Before Winnipeg, he played one season at Towson University in 2022 completing 155 of 274 passes (57%) for 1,638 yards, 14 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 134 carries for 574 yards, and two touchdowns in 11 games for the Tigers.

Before Towson, he played four years at the University of Maryland (2016-19) completing 152 of 268 passes (57%) for 1,777 yards, 9 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 176 carries for 630 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 34 games for the Terrapins.

Then, he transferred to Western Kentucky in 2020, completing 171 of 297 passes (58%) for 1,603 yards, two interceptions, 105 carries for 337 yards, and four touchdowns in 11 games for the Hilltoppers. After Western Kentucky, he went to Ole Miss but did not play.

Jake Dunniway is six foot one and weighs 211 pounds. The 23-year-old from Tracy, California, attended the Redblacks training camp earlier this year before he was released on June 3rd. He played one preseason game for Ottawa against the Toronto Argonauts completing 4 of 5 passes (80%) for 28 yards.

Collegiately, Dunniway played three seasons at Sacramento State (2019, 2021-22) completing 410 of 674 passes (61 %) for 5,575 yards, 36 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, 74 carries for 68 yards, and one punt for 47 yards in 33 games for the Hornets. He is a two-time Third Team All-Big Sky.

Before Sacramento State, Dunniway played two games at UC Davis before transferring to San Diego Mesa College in 2018, completing 241 of 392 passes (61.5%) for 2,888 yards, 27 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 76 carries for 22 yards, and one touchdown in 10 games for the Olympians.
