The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released wide receiver Amare Jones and defensive back Brad Muhammad from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Amare Jones is five foot eleven and weighs 195 pounds. The 22-year-old from Frisco, Texas, played one preseason game for Winnipeg against the Saskatchewan Roughriders with one catch for five yards, and one touchdown.

Before Winnipeg, he attended the New York Jets rookie minicamp after going undrafted in 2023. In his senior season at Georgia Southern, Jones had 35 receptions for 483 yards, six touchdowns, one kick return for 16 yards, and 12 punt returns for 112 yards in eight games for the Eagles.

Jones played two seasons at Georgia Southern (2021-22) with 60 receptions for 834 yards, six touchdowns, 42 carries for 194 yards, completed four of eight passes (50%) for 45 yards, one interception, one kick return for 16 yards, and 12 punt returns for 112 yards in 18 games. He was named All-Sun Belt Conference First Team by the Pro Football Network in 2021.

Before Georgia Southern, Jones played two seasons at Tulane (2018-19) with 40 receptions for 419 yards, two touchdowns, 108 carries for 587 yards, eight touchdowns, completed one of four passes (25%) for 27 yards, 54 kick returns for 1,290 yards, and 26 punt returns for 254 yards in 26 games for the Mean Green.

Brad Muhammad is five foot ten and weighs 189 pounds. The 27-year-old from St. Petersburg, Florida, was released by Calgary on June 3rd. Muhammad made 55 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 16 games with the Stampeders in 2022. In 2021, he played for the Ottawa Redblacks with 14 tackles in five games.

Before the CFL, Muhammad signed with the Cedar Rapids River Kings (IFL) but never played a game, and played for the Albany Empire (AFL) in 2019 with 12 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups in four games. The Empire won ArenaBowl XXXII in the AFL’s final season.

Collegiately, Muhammad played two seasons at Florida International (2013, 2017) with 63 tackles (47 solo, 16 assists), nine pass breakups, four interceptions for 25 yards, one touchdown, and one blocked kick in 20 games for the Panthers. In his final season, Muhammad had 51 tackles, four interceptions, one touchdown, nine pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 13 games for the Panthers. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA in 2017.
