Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign Enoch Penney-Laryea and Chris Kolarevic

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed linebackers Enoch Penney-Laryea and Chris Kolarevic on Tuesday. To make room for them, the Ticats released wide receiver Carlos Carriere.

Enoch Penney-Laryea is six foot one and weighs 230 pounds. The 26-year-old from Tuckahoe, New York, played 15 games last year for the Toronto Argonauts with two tackles on special teams, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown in 2022. The Argonauts drafted Penney-Laryea in the third round (26th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Penney-Laryea played two seasons at Union College (2015-16) as a running back with 17 carries for 90 yards, and two kick returns for 20 yards in eight games for the Dutchmen. In 2016, he earned Liberty League All-Academic Team.

Then, he transferred to McMaster University (2018-19, 2021) and switch to positions playing linebacker and defensive lineman with 55 tackles (38 solo, 34 assists), 15.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and two pass breakups in 21 games for the Marauders.

Chris Kolarevic is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 24-year-old from Traverse City, Michigan, attended a rookie minicamp with the Chicago Bears in 2023.

Collegiately, Kolarevic played two seasons at Northern Iowa (2018-19) with 144 tackles (58 solo, 86 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions for 40 yards, one touchdown, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 16 games for the Panthers.

After Northern Iowa, Kolarevic transferred to Nebraska (2021-22) with 60 tackles (25 solo, 35 assists), two tackles for loss, and one interception.

Carlos Carriere is six foot five and weighs 200 pounds. The 24-year-old from Alpharetta, Georgia, was on the Ticats practice squad after signing with the Ticats on June 21, 2023. Before Hamilton, he signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent and attended rookie mini-camp.

Collegiately, Carriere played four seasons at the University of Maryland (2018-21) with 38 catches for 480 yards, and six touchdowns in 31 games for the Terrapins. Then, he transferred to Central Michigan in 2022 with 45 catches for 520 yards, and two touchdowns in 11 games for the Chippewas.
