The Toronto Argonauts released veteran wide receiver Markeith Ambles on Wednesday. Markeith Ambles is six foot two and weighs 197 pounds.
The 31-year-old from McDonough, Georgia, re-signed with the Argonauts in the offseason. He was sidelined with an injury before the first week of the season and had completed a stint on the six-game injured list. Ambles played one preseason game this year with two catches for 49 yards.
Last year, Ambles had 72 catches for 109 yards and five touchdowns in 18 games for Toronto. This was his second stint with the Argonauts. Toronto signed Ambles in 2016 before releasing him after training camp.
Then, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 2018. He played three seasons in Calgary with 117 catches for 1,399 yards, seven touchdowns, and three carries for 14 yards in 29 games.
Collegiately, Ambles started at USC before transferring to Arizona Western Community College in 2012. He played one season with 44 catches for 757 yards and six touchdowns.
Afterward, Ambles transferred to Houston (2013-14) with 49 catches for 791 yards, five touchdowns, two kick returns for 99 yards, and one punt return for one yard in 23 games for the Cougars.
