The Saskatchewan Roughriders released wide receiver Derel Walker on Wednesday. Derel Walker is six foot two and weighs 187 pounds.
The 32-year-old from Hillsboro, Texas, played one game for the Roughriders in 2023 against the Edmonton Elks with three catches for 28 yards, and one touchdown. Walker has missed the last seven games with a knee injury. The Roughriders signed Walker as a free agent on February 2, 2023. Last year, Walker caught 65 passes for 874 yards, and one touchdown for the Elks in 2022.
Walker played two seasons in his second stint in Edmonton with 109 carries for 1,405 yards, and one touchdown in 27 games.
In 2019, Walker played one season with the Toronto Argonauts with 65 catches for 1,040 yards, six touchdowns, three carries for no yards, and one touchdown in 15 games. He was named a CFL East All-Star in 2019.
Walker signed with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2015. He played four seasons with 297 catches for 4,208 yards, 26 touchdowns, five carries for 34 yards, and one touchdown in 49 games. Walker was named a two-time CFL All-Star, a three-time CFL West All-Star, and the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 2015.
Before heading to the CFL, Walker signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2014. Walker also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Omaha Mammoths (FXFL).
Collegiately, Walker played two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College (2010-11) with 55 catches for 1,059 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four carries for 37 yards in 22 games for the Cardinals. Then, he transferred to Texas A&M (2012-13) with 59 catches for 903 yards, and five touchdowns in 25 games for the Aggies.
