The Calgary Stampeders signed defensive back Shaquille Richardson on Wednesday. Shaquille Richardson is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds.

The 31-year-old from Compton, California, made 31 tackles and two interceptions for 38 yards in 12 games for the Toronto Argonauts last season helping them win the 109th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Regina.

Richardson played three seasons in Toronto with 68 tackles (65 solo, 3 assists), four tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, six interceptions for 156 yards, and one touchdown. He was an East Division All-Star in 2021.

Before Toronto, Richardson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round (157th pick) of the 2014 NFL Draft. After getting released by the Steelers, Richardson had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Tennessee Titans, and Carolina Panthers.

In 2016, Richardson signed with the Calgary Stampeders. He played two seasons in Calgary with 76 tackles (60 solo, 16 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four interceptions for 115 yards, and one touchdown.

After Calgary, he signed with the Oakland Raiders but was released during training camp and later signed with the Arizona Hotshots (AAF) with 18 tackles (16 solo, 2 assists) and one interception in four games. After the AAF folded, Richardson signed with the Argonauts.

Collegiately, Richardson played four seasons at the University of Arizona (2010-13) with 189 tackles (142 solo, 47 assists), eight tackles for loss, 10 interceptions for 131 yards, one touchdown, 40 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 49 games for the Wildcats.

To make room for Richardson, the Stampeders released long snapper Maxime Latour.

Maxime Latour is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 30-year-old from Valleyfield, Quebec, played two games for the Stampeders in 2022 filling in for Aaron Crawford.

Before Calgary, he played 11 games for the Argonauts in 2022, helping them win the 109th Grey Cup. In 2021, Latour played six games in Toronto, including the 2021 Eastern Final against Hamilton.

In addition, Latour spent time with the Ottawa Redblacks and played three games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2019. Collegiately, Latour played four seasons at the University of Sherbrooke (2014-17) playing 28 games as a long snapper.
