The Pittsburgh Maulers re-signed wide receiver Tre Walker, and offensive linemen Justin Evans and Jon Dietzen.
Tre Walker is five foot eleven and weighs 180 pounds. The 23-year-old from Inglewood, California, had 15 catches for 200 yards, three carries for 17 yards, and seven kick returns for 139 yards in seven games for the Maulers in 2023, of which four were starts.
The Maulers drafted Walker in the 17th round (136th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. In this first season, Walker had 33 catches for 362 yards, one touchdown, and 26 kick returns for 645 yards in eight games, of which three were starts. Before Pittsburgh, Walker signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2021.
Collegiately, Walker played four seasons at San Jose State (2017-20) with 189 catches for 2,790 yards, and 12 touchdowns in 40 games for the Spartans, of which 25 were starts.
Justin Evans is six foot four and weighs 310 pounds. The 27-year-old from Florence, South Carolina, played ten games for the Maulers in 2023. The Maulers signed Evans as a free agent in 2022. He played ten games for the Maulers in 2022.
Before Pittsburgh, Evans signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He later spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2020, he played four games for the Dallas Renegades (XFL). Collegiately, Evans played four seasons at South Carolina State (2014-17) playing 39 games for the Bulldogs, of which 28 were starts.
Jon Dietzen is six foot four and weighs 213 pounds. The 26-year-old from Black Creek, Wisconsin, played nine games for the Maulers in 2023, of which seven were starts. The Maulers drafted Dietzen in the 23rd round (190th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. Dietzen played five games for the Maulers in 2022.
Before Pittsburgh, Dietzen signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2021, but was released on August 16th. Collegiately, Dietzen played six seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2015-20) playing 40 games for the Badgers, of which 37 were starts playing left guard and left tackle.
In 2018, he helped the Badgers rank sixth in rushing with 273.4 yards per game, helping Jonathan Taylor win the Doak Walker Award and led the nation with 2,194 rushing yards.
Both Evans and Dietzen were part of an offensive line that helped the Pittsburgh quarterbacks complete 167 of 270 passes (61.9%) for 1,437 yards (143.7%), six touchdowns, six interceptions, and allowed 33 sacks.
In addition, the Maulers’ running game had 250 carries for 989 yards (98.9 AVG), and six touchdowns, and the receivers had 168 catches for 1,653 yards, six touchdowns. The Maulers appeared in the 2023 USFL Championship game but lost to the Birmingham Stallions 28-12.
