The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed offensive lineman Jakub Szott and moved offensive lineman Kyle Saxelid to the six-game injured list on Thursday. Saxelid is dealing with a knee injury.

Jakub Szott is six foot five and weighs 305 pounds. The 25-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, was on the Saskatchewan Roughriders practice squad. In addition, he was on the Blue Bombers practice squad before being promoted to the active roster and played three games. Before Winnipeg, Szott signed with the Alouettes in October 2022 but later was released on May 9, 2023.

Before Montreal, he played 14 games for the Redblacks in 2021. The Redblacks drafted Szott in the fourth round (29th pick) in the 2020 CFL Draft from McMaster University. Szott played 37 games in four seasons with the Marauders from 2016-19.

Kyle Saxelid is six foot eight and weighs 320 pounds. The 28-year-old from Elk Grove, California, played one game for the Ticats in 2023.

The Ticats acquired Saxelid, along with linebacker Grant McDonald, and the second overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft from the Edmonton Elks for the 28th pick in the 2022 CFL National Draft, and the ninth overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft. Saxelid played nine games for the Ticats in 2022, of which two were starts.

Before Hamilton, Saxelid played for the Nebraska Danger (IFL) in 2018 before being traded that same year to the Cedar Rapids River Kings. In May 2019, he signed with the Edmonton Elks and played 29 games in two seasons, of which 16 were starts.

Collegiately, Saxelid played four seasons at UNLV (2014-17) playing 48 games, of which 39 were starts for the Rebels. In 2016, he was part of an offensive line that helped the UNLV rushing attack to 241.5 yards per game, which ranked 16th in the nation and was the program’s highest average since 1979.
