The Calgary Stampeders activated defensive lineman Aaron Donkor from the suspended list and added him to the practice squad on Monday.
Aaron Donkor is six foot one and weighs 240 pounds. The 28-year-old from Aachen, Germany, started the season on Calgary’s practice squad before being placed on the suspended list. Donkor played three games in the XFL for the Houston Roughnecks (2 games) and Arlington Renegades (1 game) with seven tackles (2 solo, 5 assists) in 2023.
Before the XFL, Donkor played for the Düsseldorf Panther in the German Football League in 2016 with 74 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks.
In 2017, he moved to the United States and played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute (2017-18) with 32 tackles (27 solo, 5 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 12 games for the Broncos. Then, he transferred to Arkansas State in 2019 with 25 tackles (16 solo, 9 assist), and 1.5 tackles for loss in six games for the Red Wolves.
In 2021, the Stampeders drafted Donkor in the third round (21st pick) in the 2021 CFL Global Draft. In addition, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks as part of the league’s International Player Pathway Program (IPPP). He was later placed on the Seahawks practice squad in 2022.
