NTT IndyCar Series Bommarito Automotive Group 500 Starting Lineup

Scott McLaughlin wins the pole in St. Louis on Sunday.

The NTT IndyCar Series held qualifying on Sunday morning at World Wide Technology Raceway for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Qualifying was supposed to be held on Saturday but inclement weather forced IndyCar officials to change the schedule.

Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin won his second pole of the season with a lap time of 49.1936 seconds at 182.951 mph. In addition, it was his first career oval pole and the fifth pole of his career. Joining him on the front row is teammate Josef Newgarden with a lap time of 49.3448 seconds at 182.390 mph.

Despite winning the pole, McLaughlin will start in tenth place due to an unapproved engine change following the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course race and was issued a nine-grid penalty. The other drivers who were issued a nine-grid penalty are Scott Dixon (16th), Alex Palou (14th), Takuma Sato (17th), Kyle Kirkwood (22nd), and Agustin Canapino (28th).
