Former Birmingham Stallions quarterback Alex McGough signed with the Green Bay Packers practice squad after he was released on August 29th. McGough played two preseason games for the Packers completing 4 of 5 passes (80%) for 69 yards, and five carries for one yard. He signed with the Packers on July 19, 2023, one day after he was released by the Birmingham Stallions.

Alex McGough is six foot three and weighs 214 pounds. The 27-year-old from Tampa, Florida, 180 of 267 passes (67.4%) for 2,104 yards, 20 touchdowns, five interceptions, 70 carries for 403 yards, and five touchdowns in ten games for the Stallions in 2023. He was named to the All-USFL Team after the season.

The Stallions drafted McGough in the first round (6th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In his first season, McGough completed 39 of 75 passes (52%) for 460 yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions, three carries for 33 yards, and three touchdowns in seven games, of which three were starts.

Before Birmingham, McGough was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round (220th pick) in the 2017 NFL Draft. He later spent time with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collegiately, McGough played four seasons at Florida International University (2014-17) completing 805 of 1,334 passes (60%) for 9,084 yards, 65 touchdowns, 37 interceptions, 307 carries for 518 yards, and 16 touchdowns in 45 games for the Panthers.
