“The atmosphere at Mosaic Stadium on Labour Day is a thrilling, one-of-a-kind experience, and that atmosphere is created by the boisterous cheers of Rider Nation,” said Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds.
“We are excited to have Mosaic Stadium filled to the brim, and I know our players will feed off the energy of our fans when they go head-to-head with the Bombers on Sunday.”
The Roughriders are 37-20 in all-time against the Blue Bombers dating back to 1949. From 2005 to 2019, the Roughriders won 14 of 15 matchups, including winning 11 consecutive meetings but Winnipeg has won the last two meetings in Mosaic since the cancelation of the 2020 season. Last year, the Blue Bombers beat the Roughriders 20-18.
The Roughriders are coming off a bye week after upsetting the B.C. Lions on August 20th. Jake Dolegala will start his second game for the Roughriders. He completed 18 of 29 passes (62%) for 239 yards, three touchdowns, and four carries for 27 yards in a 34-29 win over the Lions.
Heading into this matchup, Winnipeg can clinch a playoff spot with a win on Sunday night. Meanwhile, the Roughriders are looking to keep pace with the B.C. Lions for second place in the West Division. These two teams will meet again next weekend on Saturday, September 9th in the Banjo Bowl, which is already sold out.
