Montreal Alouettes sign defensive lineman Damontre Moore

The Montreal Alouettes signed defensive lineman Damontre Moore on Tuesday. In addition, the Alouettes signed running back Trey Ragas, wide receiver Kameron Brown, and defensive backs Parnell Motley and Dishon McNary.

Damontre Moore is six foot four and weighs 260 pounds. The 30-year-old from Rowlett, Texas, returned to the Argonauts in 2023 but was released after training camp.

Last season, Moore played one game for the Argonauts in 2022. Before Toronto, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 but was released and later joined the practice squad with the Carolina Panthers.

The New York Giants drafted Moore in the third round (81st pick) in the 2013 NFL Draft from Texas A&M. He played 66 career games in the NFL for the Giants, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers with 97 tackles, 11 sacks, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, four pass breakups, and two blocks on special teams.

In addition, he played for the San Diego Fleet (AAF) with 39 tackles (22 solo, 17 assists), and 7.5 sacks in seven games before the league ceased operations.

Collegiately, Moore played three seasons at Texas A&M (2010-12) with 197 tackles (116 solo, 81 assists), 45 tackles for loss, 26.5 sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, eight forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two blocks on special teams in 38 games for the Aggies.

He was named Freshman All-Big 12 honors in 2010, and in 2012 was named first-team All-American and a first-team All-Southeastern Conference.

Trey Ragas is five foot ten and weighs 214 pounds. The 26-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, attended training camp for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023. He played two preseason games for the Ticats with nine carries for 41 yards, and three catches for 20 yards.

In 2022, he was on the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. Before the Rams, Ragas signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He played one game for the Raiders in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs with one carry for nine yards, and two catches for six yards.

Collegiately, Ragas played four seasons at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2017-20) with 596 carries for 3,572 yards, 38 touchdowns, 49 catches for 427 yards, five touchdowns, and four kick returns for 46 yards in 49 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He is a three-time Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference and Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2020.

Kameron Brown is six foot three and weighs 210 pounds. The 26-year-old from Graniteville, South Carolina, attended training camp for the Arlington Renegades (XFL) in 2023. Before Arlington, Brown signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. However, he was waived on August 16, 2022.

Collegiately, Brown played four seasons at Charleston Southern (2016-19) with 98 catches for 1,656 yards and 18 touchdowns in 34 games for the Buccaneers. He is a two-time Second Team All-Big South Conference.

Then, Brown transferred to Coastal Carolina (2020-21) with 56 catches for 911 yards, and eight touchdowns in 25 games for the Chanticleers. He was an Honorable Mention for the All-Sun Belt Conference in 2021.

Parnell Motley is six foot and weighs 180 pounds. The 25-year-old from Washington, D.C., attended training camp for the Toronto Argonauts in 2023. Before Toronto, he was drafted by the D.C. Defenders in the 12th round (4th pick) in the 2022 XFL Draft. After getting cut by the Defenders, he signed with the New Orleans Breakers on April 19th but was released the next day.

Motley signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He played two regular season games with eight tackles, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery before being released. In addition, he had brief stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and the Calgary Stampeders.

Collegiately, Motley played four seasons at Oklahoma (2016-19) with 176 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions for 94 yards, one touchdown, 39 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 53 games for the Sooners.

In his final season, Motley made 41 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, 14 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 14 games. He was named First Team All-Big 12 by the media and Second Team by the coaches.

Dishon McNary is six foot and weighs 196 pounds. The 25-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, attended training camp for the Calgary Stampeders in 2023. Before Calgary, he attended rookie camps for the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants.

Collegiately, McNary played two seasons at Independence Community College (2017-18) in Independence, Kansas, with 28 tackles, two sacks, ten pass breakups, and one block on special teams in 13 games for the Pirates.

Then, McNary transferred to Central Michigan (2019-21) with 47 tackles, one interception, ten pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 11 games for the Chippewas. In 2020, he was named first-team All-MAC by Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele’s All-MAC fourth team after making 26 tackles, one interception, six pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in six games.
