Arrow McLaren announced on Friday that David Malukas has agreed to a multi-year contract starting with the 2024 season. He will replace Felix Rosenqvist, who signed with Meyer Shank Racing this past Tuesday.
“I can’t wait to race in papaya next season,” said Malukas. “Arrow McLaren has been a threat to the top contenders all season long, and I’m excited to join the team and see what their Chevrolets can do. Pato and Alexander both know what it takes to win, so it will be fun racing alongside them and learning from them as well.”
David Malukas is a 21-year-old from Chicago, Illinois. This season, Malukas is ranked 16th in the points standings with two top-five and six-top ten finishes. His highest finish this year was third place at the World Wide Technology Raceway on August 27, 2023.
“We’ve been extremely impressed with how quickly David has gotten up to speed in the NTT IndyCar Series,” said Racing Director Gavin Ward. “At 21, he’s already one of the strongest oval racers in the field and his competitiveness on road and street courses has been steadily improving. That speed combined with an excellent attitude and work ethic makes us thrilled to have him join the team.”
This will be Malukas’s third season in IndyCar next year. He has raced the past two seasons with Dale Coyne Racing w/HMD with two top-three and three top-five finishes in 33 starts. His highest finish in his two seasons in IndyCar was second at World Wide Technology Raceway in 2022.
Before IndyCar, Malukas made headlines in 2021 racing in the Indy NXT (then Indy Lights) with 16 podium finishes with HMD Motorsports including seven poles and seven wins finishing second in the championship standings behind Kyle Kirkwood. He competed two seasons in the Indy Lights Series with HMD Motorsports and BN Racing with four poles, seven wins, and 18 podium finishes.
In addition, Malukas competed in the USF Pro 2000 Championship (3 poles, 3 wins, 6 podium finishes in 2018), ADAC Formula 4 (1 pole in 2017), and USF2000 Championship (1 pole, and 1 podium in 2017).
“David is an up and comer in the NTT IndyCar Series, and based on what we’ve seen from him so far in his first two seasons,” said CEO Zak Brown. “I’m confident there’s a lot of talent we can extract from him through the resources we have at Arrow McLaren. Beyond what he can do on a racetrack, he’s got a great personality and we’re excited to welcome him to the McLaren Racing family.”
