Rutgers dominates Temple for their second win of the season

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-0) hosted the Temple Owls (1-1) on Saturday night from SHI Stadium in their 39th all-time meeting. Rutgers had won six straight meetings against the Owls. That streak would continue on Saturday night.

Rutgers had 452 yards on offense. Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt completed 11 of 22 passes (50%) for 199 yards, one touchdown, and eight carries for 24 yards to lead the Scarlet Knights to a 36-7 win. Rutgers has now seven straight games against Temple.

Running backs Kyle Monangai, Al-Shadee Salaam, and Samuel Brown V combined for 38 carries for 499 yards, three touchdowns, and one catch for 27 yards.

Wide receiver JaQuae Jackson had four catches for 95 yards, and Ja’shon Benjamin had one catch for 33 yards and one touchdown. Rutgers’s defense had 66 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, 12 pass breakups, and two interceptions.

Temple had 298 yards on offense. Quarterback E.J. Warner completed 20 of 44 passes (45.5%) for 230 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and three carries for -3 yards.

Running back Joquez Smith had nine carries for 45 yards and wide receiver Dante Wright had five catches for 59 yards and one touchdown. Temple’s defense had 90 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack, and five pass breakups.
