Villanova routes Colgate for their second win of the season

The Villanova Wildcats (2-0) hosted the Colgate Raiders (0-1) on Saturday night from Villanova Stadium. The Wildcats were 4-0 against Colgate in their all-time meeting. The last time these two teams played each other was 2019 when the Wildcats won the game 34-14.

Villanova quarterback 462 yards on offense. Quarterback Connor Watkins completed 8 of 11 passes (72.7%) for 310 yards, two touchdowns, ten carries for 15 yards, and two touchdowns.

The Wildcats routed the Raiders by the final score of 42-19. Running back Jalen Jackson had 12 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown, and DeeWil Barlee had six carries for 54 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Rayjuon Pringle and tight end Antonio Johnson combined with four catches logging 169 yards, and two touchdowns. Villanova’s defense had 67 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, and six pass breakups.

Colgate had 258 yards on offense. Quarterback Michael Brescia completed 16 of 30 passes (53%) for 225 yards, one touchdown, one interception, 14 carries for 10 yards, and one touchdown.

Running back Jaedon Henry had 11 carries for 15 yards, and three catches for 24 yards, and wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders had six catches for 132 yards and one touchdown. Colgate’s defense had 62 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup.
