The Reading Royals signed forward Tyson Fawcett on Monday. Tyson Fawcett is five foot seven and weighs 165 pounds. This will be Fawcett’s second stint with the Royals. He played six games for them in the 2018-19 season with one goal and two penalty minutes.
“I am super excited to get back to the Royals and get back into such a first class organization,” Fawcett said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity I have here and can’t wait to do something special with this team and bring a championship back to Reading!”
The 30-year-old from Barrie, Ontario, earned 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists), and 79 penalty minutes in 51 games for the Manchester Storm (EIHL) in the 2022-23 season. Fawcett played four seasons for the Storm with 88 points (41 goals, 47 assists), and 137 penalty minutes in 168 games. He was an alternate captain in the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons.
“We’re excited to add Tyson to our group for the 23/24 season,” said Head Coach James Henry. “He has a great deal of experience within our league and will help boost our leadership group. His work ethic will help push our team to continue to improve.”
Before Manchester, Fawcett played three seasons in the OJHL for the Orangeville Crushers, Orangeville Flyers, Huntsville Otters, and Georgetown Raiders with 105 points (46 goals, 59 assists), and 35 penalty minutes in 121 games. In addition, he had 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists), and two penalty minutes in 25 playoff games.
Then, Fawcett played two seasons in the OHL with the Barrie Colts with 75 points (35 goals, 40 assists), and 69 penalty minutes in 130 games. In addition, he has 15 points (3 goals, 13 assists), and 22 penalty minutes in 31 playoff games.
Fawcett played five seasons in the ECHL with the Brampton Beast, Evansville IceMen, Elmira Jackals, Tulsa Oilers, Fort Wayne Komets, Jacksonville IceMen, Reading Royals, and Atlanta Gladiators earning 122 points (54 goals, 68 assists), and 218 penalty minutes in 296 games.
In the AHL, Fawcett played two games for the Rochester Americans in the 2016-17 season with two penalty minutes.
