The Toronto Argonauts signed defensive back Benjie Franklin to the practice squad on Tuesday. Benjie Franklin is six foot and weighs 172 pounds.

The 26-year-old from Houston, Texas, spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks in 2023. Franklin signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He played one preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with one tackle.

Collegiately, Franklin played two seasons at Navarro College (2016-17) with 80 tackles (69 solo, 11 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, nine interceptions for 24 yards, one forced fumble, and 30 pass breakups in 19 games for the Bulldogs. He was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.

Then, he transferred to Tarleton State (2019-21) with 103 tackles (83 solo, 20 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions for 225 yards, two touchdowns, 27 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks in 29 games for the Texans. He was named Second Team D2CCA All-Region in 2019, Second Team All-LSC in 2019, and Fourth Team Phil Steele FCS All-WAC in 2021.
