The Memphis Showboats signed wide receiver Daewood Davis for the 2024 season on Thursday. Daewood Davis is six foot two and weighs 195 pounds.
The 24-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2023. He played three preseason games for the Miami Dolphins. He was targeted two times but never made a catch.
Davis was in the headlines earlier this year in a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 26th, when he suffered an injury and had to be carted off the field. He was taken to the hospital and was later released. Three days later, he was released by the Dolphins.
Collegiately, Davis was a cornerback in 2017 before switching to wide receiver in 2018. He played four seasons at Oregon (2017-20) with ten catches for 102 yards, one touchdown, and four kick returns for 93 yards in 21 games for the Ducks.
Then, he transferred to Western Kentucky (2021-22) with 106 for 1,635 yards, and two carries for seven yards in 26 games for the Hilltoppers. He was named Conference USA Honorable Mention in 2022.
