Edmonton Elks move defensive back Donovan Olumba to the practice squad

The Edmonton Elks have moved defensive back Donovan Olumba from the retired list to the practice squad on Friday.

Donovan Olumba is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 27-year-old from Nashville, Tennessee, was moved to the retired list on May 10th. Olumba signed with the Elks on September 1, 2022. He played two games, of which one was a start against the B.C. Lions on October 21st with one interception for 54 yards.

Before Edmonton, Olumba signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played one game for the Cowboys in 2019 against the Washington Redskins on the final week of the season as a backup.

After Dallas, Olumba had stints with the Cleveland Browns, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Los Angeles Rams, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Collegiately, Olumba played three seasons at Alderson-Broaddus University (2013-15) with 62 tackles (49 solo, 13 assists), six interceptions for 220 yards, two touchdowns, 26 pass breakups, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks, 13 punt returns for 143 yards, and one touchdown in 30 games for the Battlers.

Then, Olumba transferred to Portland State in 2017 with 21 tackles (15 solo, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, and seven pass breakups in 11 games for the Vikings.
