The New Orleans Breakers re-signed long-snapper Turner Bernard and punter Matt White for the 2024 season on Monday.
Turner Bernard is six foot one and weighs 239 pounds. The 25-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, played ten games for the Breakers in 2023. The Breakers drafted Bernard in the seventh round (330th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Bernard played ten games for the Breakers in 2022. Before New Orleans, Turner signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
Collegiately, Bernard played five seasons at San Diego State (2016-20) playing 51 games for the Aztecs with three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists). He was named First Team All-Mountain by Phil Steele Magazine in 2019.
Matt White is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. The 27-year-old from Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, punted the ball 30 times for 1,347 yards (44.9 AVG), with a long of 68 yards, 11 from inside the 20-yard line, five touchbacks, and ten kickoffs for 706 yards in ten games for the Breakers in 2023.
The Breakers drafted White in the ninth round (349th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. White punted the ball 48 times for 2,123 yards (44.2 AVG), with a long of 77 yards, 15 from inside the 20-yard line, three touchbacks, and two kickoffs for 114 yards in ten games for the Breakers in 2022. Before New Orleans, White signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2020 but the season was canceled.
Collegiately, White played four seasons at Monmouth University (2014-17) punting the ball 151 times for 5,984 yards (39.6 AVG), with a long of 73 yards, three touchbacks, 36 fair catches, 43 from inside the 20-yard line, 19 from 50-plus yards, 122 kickoffs for 7,099 yards (58.2 AVG), 39 touchbacks, seven kicks out of bounds, and made 19 of 29 field goals (65.5%), with a long of 46 yards in 36 games for the Hawks.
