The Philadelphia Stars re-signed kicker Luis Aguilar for the 2024 season and claimed offensive lineman Jordan Steckler off waivers from the Houston Gamblers on Tuesday.
Luis Aguilar is six foot three and weighs 200 pounds. The 25-year-old from Nogales, Arizona, was named to the USFL All-Star Team in 2023 after leading the league converting 25 of 29 field goals (86%) with a long of 56 yards, including scoring 24 points (8 field goals) in a win against the New Jersey Generals on May 14th.
Aguilar joined the Stars midway through the 2022 season, converting 8 of 10 field goals (80%) with a long of 49 yards, and made 19 extra points in six games.
Before Philadelphia, Aguilar played five seasons at Northern Arizona (2017-21) converting 44 of 60 field goals (73.3%) with a long of 57 yards, making 115 of 117 extra points, 20 punts for 705 yards with a long of 51 yards, three touchbacks, five fair catches, five from inside the 20-yard line, and two from 50-plus yards in 49 games for the Lumberjacks.
He has won numerous awards including a two-time First Team All-Big Sky (2019, Spring 2021), and a 2019 Fred Mitchell Award recipient.
Jordan Steckler is six foot five and weighs 305 pounds. The 27-year-old from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, played six games, of which five were starts for the Gamblers in 2023. The Gamblers signed Steckler as a free agent on February 19, 2023.
Before Houston, Steckler signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2020. He had stints with the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Cleveland Browns. In 2021, he played two regular season games for the Houston Texans.
Collegiately, Steckler played five seasons at Northern Illinois (2015-19) playing 47 games, of which 43 were starts for the Huskies. He was named First Team All-MAC by Pro Football Focus in 2019.
