The Reading Royals signed forward Kyle Olson for the 2023-24 season on Thursday.

Kyle Olson is six foot and weighs 172 pounds. The 24-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, earned six points (1 goal, 5 assists), and 55 penalty minutes in 55 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the 2022-23 season.

Olson played three seasons for the Penguins with 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists), 138 penalty minutes, and three game-winning goals in 149 games. Before Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Olson was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round (122nd pick) of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Olson played five seasons in the Western Hockey League for the Calgary Hitmen and Tri-City Americans with 187 points (61 goals, 126 assists), and 293 penalty minutes in 219 games. In the playoffs, Olson earned 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists), and 19 penalty minutes in 19 games.

Internationally, Olson represented Team Canada at the 2017 Under 18-World Championship earning three points (2 goals, 1 assist), and 18 penalty minutes in five games winning the silver medal, and Team Alberta at the 2015 Canada Winter Games with eight plays (2 goals, 6 assists), and four penalty minutes in six games.
