The Villanova Wildcats (3-1) hosted the Rhode Island Rams (2-2) on Saturday afternoon from Villanova Stadium to start CAA Conference action.
Villanova had 459 yards on offense. Quarterback Connor Watkins completed 8 of 14 passes (57.1%) for 166 yards, one interception, ten carries for 113 yards, and three touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 35-9 win over the Rams.
Running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye had seven carries for 103 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for 24 yards, and DeeWil Barlee had 16 carries for 43 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Jaaron Hayek had three catches for 78 yards. Villanova’s defense had 50 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble, and five pass breakups.
Rhode Island had 241 yards on offense. Quarterback Kasim Hill completed 14 of 26 passes (53.8%) for 175 yards, one interception, and ten carries for 20 yards.
Running back Ja’Den McKenzie had nine carries for 24 yards, and wide receiver Kahtero Summers made two catches for 56 yards. Rhode Island’s defense had 63 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, and one interception.
