The Pittsburgh Maulers released running back Duane Gary on Saturday.
Duane Gary is five foot nine and weighs 172 pounds. The 28-year-old from New Haven, Connecticut, had 13 carries for 67 yards, and one catch for five yards in four games for the Maulers in 2023. The Maulers signed Gary as a free agent on October 5, 2022.
Before Pittsburgh, Gary played for the Bay Area Panthers (IFL) in 2022 with 146 carries for 489 yards, 18 touchdowns, 19 catches for 81 yards, 23 kick returns for 349 yards, and two touchdowns in 15 games. He finished fifth in the IFL in rushing yards among running backs.
Collegiately, Gary played two seasons at Nassau Community College (2014-15) with nine carries for 48 yards, two touchdowns, 41 catches for 616 yards, and four touchdowns in 16 games for the Lions. Then, he transferred to Western Connecticut State University (2017-18) with 129 carries for 811 yards, four touchdowns, 73 catches for 971 yards, six touchdowns, 26 kick returns for 677 yards, and four punt returns for 24 yards in 19 games for the Colonials.
