Before Edmonton, Thompson II played one season at Valdosta State in 2022 with 15 tackles in four games for the Blazers.
Before Valdosta State, Thompson II played three seasons at Indiana State (2018-21) with 47 tackles (29 solo, 18 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, and nine pass breakups in 27 games for the Sycamores.
In his final season in 2021, Thompson II had 20 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, three quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery in ten games.
