The Saskatchewan Roughriders released wide receiver John Ursua from the practice squad on Wednesday.

John Ursua is five foot nine and weighs 182 pounds. The 29-year-old from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, signed with the Roughriders on September 12th and was placed on the practice squad.

Before Saskatchewan, he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round (236th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in three regular season games in 2019 with one catch for 11 yards.  In addition, he played five preseason games with eight catches for 133 yards and one touchdown.

Collegiately, Ursua played three seasons at the University of Hawaii (2016-18) with 189 catches for 2,662 yards, 24 touchdowns, six carries for 12 yards, two touchdowns, and ten punt returns for 74 yards in 33 games for the Warriors. He was named First Team All-MWC in 2018.
