The Montreal Alouettes released running back Trey Ragas and defensive back Daniel Valente from the practice squad on Thursday.
Trey Ragas is five foot ten and weighs 214 pounds. The 26-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, signed with the Alouettes on September 5th. Before Montreal, Ragas attended training camp for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023. He played two preseason games for the Ticats with nine carries for 41 yards, and three catches for 20 yards.
In 2022, he was on the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. Before the Rams, Ragas signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He played one game for the Raiders in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs with one carry for nine yards, and two catches for six yards.
Collegiately, Ragas played four seasons at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2017-20) with 596 carries for 3,572 yards, 38 touchdowns, 49 catches for 427 yards, five touchdowns, and four kick returns for 46 yards in 49 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He is a three-time Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference and Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2020.
Daniel Valente is five foot eleven and weighs 176 pounds. The 23-year-old from London, Ontario, was on the Ottawa Redblacks practice squad in 2023. Valente was drafted by the Redblacks in the fourth round (31st pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Valente played five seasons at Western (2017-19, 2021-22) with 100 tackles (75 solo, 50 assists), five tackles for loss, nine interceptions for 148 yards, two sacks, and four pass breakups in 35 games for the Mustangs.
