The Temple Owls (2-3) visited Chapman Stadium on Thursday night against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (3-2) in an AAC conference battle. This was the eighth meeting between these two teams dating back to 1987. The Golden Hurricanes led the overall series 4-3 and Temple could not tie the series.
Temple had 313 yards on offense. Quarterback E.J. Warner completed 27 of 49 passes (55.1%) for 269 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and four carries for four yards as the Owls lost the game by the final score of 48-26.
Temple running back Joquez Smith had 11 carries for 26 yards, and one catch for one yard, while wide receiver Amad Anderson Jr. had four catches for 75 yards and one touchdown. Temple’s defense made 82 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and one touchdown. Kick returner Sam Martin returned three kickoffs for 141 yards, and one touchdown.
Tulsa had 533 yards on offense. Quarterback Cardell Williams completed 14 of 17 passes (82.3%) for 244 yards, three touchdowns, ten carries for 90 yards, and one touchdown.
Tulsa Running back Anthony Watkins had 20 carries for 77 yards, and one touchdown, while wide receiver Marquis Shoulders had five catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Tulsa’s defense made 68 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery, one interception, and four pass breakups.
