The Edmonton Elks signed quarterback Dresser Winn and defensive lineman Olivier Charles-Pierre to the practice squad and released wide receiver Randy Satterfield on Saturday.
Dresser Winn is six foot three and weighs 215 pounds. The 24-year-old from Dresden, Tennessee, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played one preseason game for the Rams against the Denver Broncos completing 3 of 5 passes (60%) for 21 yards.
Collegiately, Winn played six seasons at the University of Tennessee-Martin (2017-22) completing 492 of 814 passes (60%) for 5,800 yards, 37 touchdowns, 24 interceptions, 174 carries for 164 yards, and nine touchdowns.
In addition, Winn punted the ball 26 times for 1,044 yards, with a long of 67 yards, three touchbacks, nine fair catches, eight from inside the 20-yard line, five from 50-plus yards, and one kickoff for 57 yards in 32 games for the Skyhawks. He was named Second Team All-OVC in 2022.
Olivier Charles-Pierre is six foot one and weighs 375 pounds. The 29-year-old from Laval, Quebec, was on the Elks practice squad this year before he was released on July 16, 2023.
Collegiately, Charles-Pierre played one season at Incarnate Word in 2022 with 37 tackles (11 solo, 26 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in 13 games for the Cardinals.
Before Incarnate Word, Charles-Pierre played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute (2017-18) with 32 tackles (20 solo, 12 assists) and 5.5 tackles for loss in ten games for the Colts. He was named a preseason Junior College All-American by GridironRR.com in 2018.
Then, Charlies-Pierre transferred to Houston (2019-21) with 23 tackles (10 solo, 13 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Cougars.
Randy Satterfield is six foot four and weighs 210 pounds. The 27-year-old from Orange, New Jersey, signed with the Elks on September 18, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. Before Edmonton, Satterfield spent time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023.
Before Saskatchewan, he played three games for the Generals in 2023 with three catches for 34 yards in two games, of which one of them he started. The Generals drafted Satterfield in the 17th round (138th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.
In the USFL’s first game in 2022, Satterfield caught the league’s first touchdown from quarterback Luis Perez for three yards against the Birmingham Stallions. Satterfield played nine games, of which two were starts with nine receptions for 124 yards and one touchdown for the Generals. Before New Jersey, Satterfield signed with the Roughriders in 2020 but the season was canceled. He returned to the team in 2021 but came up short of making the final roster.
Collegiately, Satterfield played two seasons at West Alabama (2014-15) with 29 receptions for 406 yards, eight touchdowns, one kick return for 26 yards, and six punt returns for 89 yards in 19 games for the Tigers. Then, he transferred to Cumberland University in 2016 but did not play a game for the Phoenix.
In 2019, he played one season at Lyon College with 47 receptions for 867 yards, 11 touchdowns, two carries for ten yards, 15 kick returns for 475 yards, one touchdown, 17 punt returns for 177 yards, and one touchdown in ten games for the Scots. He led the Sooner Athletic Conference in receiving yards (867), and touchdown receptions (11).
He was named an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, and as a First Team All-SAC selection at wide receiver and as a kick and punt returner. In addition, he was named SAC Newcomer and Athlete of the Year.
