Penn State remains undefeated with a route over Northwestern

The Penn State Nittany Lions (5-0) visited Ryan Field on Saturday afternoon against the Northwestern Wildcats (2-3) in Big Ten action.

This was the 20th all-time meeting between these two teams. The Nittany Lions had a two-game winning streak against Northwestern. They would continue the streak on Saturday.

Penn State had 353 yards on offense. Quarterback Drew Allar completed 18 of 33 passes (54.5%) for 189 yards, one touchdown, eight carries for four yards, and one touchdown leading the Nittany Lions to a 41-13 win over the Wildcats. The Nittany Lions have now won three straight games against Northwestern and are now 15-5 all-time against the Wildcats.

Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton had 21 carries for 80 yards, one touchdown, six catches for 39 yards, and one touchdown. Wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith led the receivers with four catches for 86 yards, and Penn State’s defense made 52 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three pass breakups, and one interception.

Northwestern had 175 yards on offense. Quarterback Ben Bryant completed 14 of 25 passes (56%) for 122 yards, 11 carries for -5 yards, and one touchdown. Backup quarterback Brendan Sullivan completed 2 of 6 passes (33%) for 8 yards, one interception, and seven carries for 25 yards.

Northwestern running back Cam Porter had seven carries for 18 yards, and wide receiver Cam Johnson had six catches for 81 yards. Northwestern’s defense had 69 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups.
