Former Michigan Panthers wide receiver Trey Quinn signed with the Detroit Lions on Monday and will be placed on the practice squad according to KPRC2 reporter Aaron Wilson.
Trey Quinn is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 27-year-old from Lake Charles, Louisiana, made 37 catches for 438 yards, four touchdowns, completed one pass for 19 yards, and two punt returns for eight yards in ten games for the Panthers in 2023.
In the North Division playoffs against the Pittsburgh Maulers, Quinn made five catches for 104 yards and one touchdown. The Panthers signed Quinn as a free agent on December 31, 2022. After the season, Quinn signed with the Detroit Lions. He played one preseason game against the New York Giants with one catch for eight yards.
Before Michigan, Quinn was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the seventh round (256th pick) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Washington with 35 catches for 273 yards, two touchdowns, and 20 punt returns for 130 yards in 15 games.
Then, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 with one punt return for six yards. After Jacksonville, Quinn spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos.
Collegiately, Quinn played two seasons at LSU (2014-15) with 22 catches for 276 yards, and two carries for 11 yards in 25 games for the Tigers. Then, Quinn transferred to Southern Methodist University (2016-17). He had to sit out in 2016 due to the NCAA transfer rules.
In 2017, he made 114 catches for 1,236 yards, 13 touchdowns, and completed 1 of 2 passes (50%) for 34 yards, one interception, five kick returns for 113 yards, and five punt returns for 13 yards in 13 games for the Mustangs.
