The Montreal Alouettes signed fullback Jacob Mason and defensive back Kenneth Durden to the practice squad on Thursday.
Jacob Mason is six foot two and weighs 240 pounds. The 23-year-old from Burlington, Ontario, was selected in the fifth round (39th pick) in the 2023 CFL Draft. Collegiately, Mason played three seasons at McMaster (2018, 2021-22) with 12 carries for 101 yards, nine catches for 66 yards, one kick return for ten yards, and 13 tackles in 15 games for the Marauders.
Kenneth Durden is six foot one and weighs 180 pounds. The 31-year-old from Valdosta, Georgia, was released by the Alouettes on April 18, 2023. Then, he played for the Massachusetts Pirates (IFL) in 2023 with 10 tackles (6 solo, 4 assists) and three pass breakups in two games. In 2022, Durden made 18 tackles in seven games for the Alouettes.
Before Montreal, Durden spent two seasons on the Oakland Raiders practice squad (2016-17) and three seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2017-19), playing five games.
Collegiately, Durden played in three seasons at South Florida (2011-13) with 22 tackles (22 solo, 10 assists), one interception for 15 yards, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and nine punt returns for 64 yards in 17 games for the Bulls.
Then, he transferred to Youngstown State in 2014 with 22 tackles (17 solo, 5 assists), six pass breakups, and one interception for 25 yards in 11 games for the Penguins.
