The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released wide receiver Chris Coleman, and defensive backs Zach Herzog and Donnie Lewis Jr. from the practice squad on Thursday.

Chris Coleman is five foot eleven and weighs 192 pounds. The 24-year-old from Bakersfield, California, signed with the Ticats on September 26, 2023. Before Hamilton, Coleman signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played three preseason games with two catches for 17 yards.

Collegiately, Coleman played four seasons at Fresno State (2017-20) with 16 catches for 265 yards, one touchdown, two carries for three yards, and four kick returns for 69 yards in 25 games for the Bulldogs.

Then, Coleman transferred to Cal Pony (2021-22) with 48 catches for 702 yards, five touchdowns, one kick return for nine yards, and two punt returns for 16 yards in 11 games for the Mustangs. He was named the team’s Co-offensive Player of the Year in 2021.

Zach Herzog is five foot nine and weighs 192 pounds The 25-year-old from Winsor, Ontario, signed with the Ticats in January but was released on May 9, 2023. He would later return to the Ticats on September 12, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad.

Before Hamilton, he spent time in training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before going to UBC to finish his collegiate career. The Roughriders drafted Herzog in the seventh round (63rd pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Herzog played five seasons at Hillsdale College (2017-21) with 244 tackles (127 solo, 117 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and eight pass breakups in 30 games for the Chargers. In his final year, Herzog had 105 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and six pass breakups in 12 games.

Then, Herzog transferred to the University of British Columbia in 2022. He made 49 tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups in eleven games for the Thunderbirds.

In high school, Herzog is a Three-time Windsor City MVP at Holy Names. In addition, Herzog was named First-Team All-Canadian in track and field, a Silver medalist in the 100-meter dash at the Windsor City meet and helped the 4×100 relay team to a city championship.

Donnie Lewis Jr. is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. The 27-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, made ten tackles (8 solo, 2 assists), one interception, and two pass breakups in five games for the Birmingham Stallions (USFL) in 2023. The Stallions released Lewis Jr. on June 6, 2023.

Before Birmingham, Lewis Jr. was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round (221st pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons on their practice squad. Later, Lewis Jr. spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. He signed with the Stallions as a free agent on January 14, 2023.

Collegiately, Lewis Jr. played four seasons at Tulane University (2015-18) with 161 tackles (128 solo, 33 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, eight interceptions for 79 yards, one touchdown, 48 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 46 games for the Mean Green.
