Villanova shuts out Elon for their fifth win of the season

Villanova running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye scored three touchdowns against Elon on Saturday.

The Villanova Wildcats (5-2) hosted the Elon Phoenix (3-4) from Villanova Stadium on a rainy Saturday afternoon. This was the fourth all-time meeting between these two teams dating back to 2016 with the Wildcats winning the last two teams. The winning streak would continue against Elon on Saturday.

Villanova had 476 yards on offense. Quarterback Connor Watkins completed 3 of 10 passes (30%) for 36 yards, one interception, and 13 carries for 125 yards. Running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye had 11 carries for 78 yards, and three touchdowns leading the Wildcats to a 21-0 win.

Villanova tight end Antonio Johnson led the receivers with two catches for 32 yards. Villanova’s defense made 35 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and three pass breakups.

Elon had 99 yards on offense. Quarterback Justin Allen completed 4 of 11 passes (36.4%) for 40 yards, running back Jalen Hampton had 10 carries for 19 yards, and wide receiver Landyn Backey made one catch for 33 yards. Elon’s defense made 71 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup.
