The Calgary Stampeders signed defensive lineman Ryan Leder to the practice squad on Monday. To make room, Calgary released defensive lineman George Obinna from the practice squad.

Ryan Leder is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 23-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, played one preseason game for the Stampeders in 2023 against the B.C. Lions with four tackles.

Before Calgary, Leder made 28 tackles (20 solo, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in nine games for the Marauders.

Leder played four seasons at McMaster University (2018-19, 2021-22) with 86 tackles (46 solo, 40 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three pass breakups, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 31 games for the Marauders.

George Obinna is six foot two and weighs 251 pounds. The 27-year-old from Tracy, California, signed with the Stampeders on September 16, 2023. Obinna played two games for the Stampeders in 2022 with two tackles. He signed with Calgary as a free agent in 2022. Before Calgary, he was on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad in 2021.

Collegiately, Obinna played six seasons at Sacramento State (2014-19) with 136 tackles (70 solo, 66 assists), 47 tackles for loss, 33.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 48 games for the Hornets. He is a two-time First Team All-Big Sky (2017, 2019), and earned the team’s Ray Clemons Defensive MVP award in 2019.
