Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Reggie Begelton won the 2023 Herm Harrison Memorial Award on Tuesday for his outstanding community service.

This award was named after former Stampeders great Herm Harrison, who played in Calgary from 1964-72. He was a six-time West Division All-Star and three-time CFL All-Star. The other winners include Rob Cote (2013), Randy Chevrier (2014), Bo Levi Mitchell (2015, 2016), Joshua Bell (2017), Rob Maver (2018, 2019), Kamar Jorden (2021), and Colton Hunchak (2022).

“God blesses you so that you can bless others,” said Begelton. “Without the community, we athletes would be nothing. To be able to give back, however I can, grants me the privilege of being able to step on that field and play freely, knowing that God called me here.”

Reggie Begelton is six foot and weighs 204 pounds. The 30-year-old from Beaumont, Texas, has made 82 catches for 1,053 yards, four touchdowns, and two carries for 13 yards in 14 games for the Stampeders in 2023.

Begelton is in his sixth season in Calgary with 325 catches for 4,379 yards, 23 touchdowns, 11 carries for 114 yards, one touchdown, and six kick returns for 130 yards. He is a member of the 2018 Stampeders Grey Cup championship team. In addition, he was named CFL West All-Star, and CFL All-Star in 2018.

In 2021, Begelton returned to Calgary after two seasons on the Green Bay Packers practice squad. He made nine catches for 133 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for 21 yards in two games. Last season, Begelton made 85 catches for 957 yards, six touchdowns, and four carries for 42 yards in 18 games.
