Delaware routes Hampton for their sixth win of the season

Delaware running back Marcus Yarns scored two touchdowns against Hampton on Saturday.

The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (6-1) visited Armstrong Stadium on Saturday afternoon against the Hampton Pirates (3-4) in their second-ever meeting. The Blue Hens were 1-0 in the all-time rivalry and the winning streak continued on Saturday.

Delaware had 522 yards on offense. Quarterback Zach Marker completed 17 of 28 passes (60.7%) for 239 yards, one touchdown, eight carries for 37 yards, and one touchdown leading the Fightin’ Blue Hens to a 47-3 win over the Pirates.

Delaware backup quarterback Nick Minicucci completed 4 of 6 passes (66%) for 51 yards, and one touchdown. Running back Kyron Cumby had seven carries for 70 yards, while Marcus Yarns had five carries for 32 yards, two touchdowns, and three catches for 28 yards.

Delaware wide receiver Jourdan Townsend made three catches for 88 yards, and Joshua Youngblood made three catches for 29 yards and one touchdown. Delaware’s defense made 48 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups.

Hampton had 216 yards on offense. Quarterback Jared Lewis completed 4 of 15 passes (27%) for 47 yards, and one carry for two yards. Running back Tymere Robinson had 20 carries for 119 yards, and wide receiver Dorrian Moultrie made one catch for 31 yards. Hampton’s defense made 62 tackles, two tackles for loss, and four pass breakups.
