Gavin Wimsatt’s three touchdowns lead Rutgers to victory over Indiana

Rutgers quarterbakc Gavin Wimsett scored three touchdowns against Indiana on Saturday.

The Rutgers Scarlets Knights (6-2) battled the Indiana Hoosiers (2-5) on Saturday afternoon from Memorial Stadium. This was the tenth overall meeting between these two teams dating back to 2014. Rutgers had won two straight against Indiana. That streak would continue on Saturday.

Rutgers had 315 yards on offense. Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt completed 5 of 12 passes (41.6%) for 39 yards, 16 carries for 143 yards, and three touchdowns leading the Scarlet Knights to a 31-14 win over the Hoosiers. Rutgers have now won three straight games against Indiana.

Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai had 24 carries for 109 yards and wide receiver Christian Dremel made two catches for 14 yards. Rutgers’s defense made 48 tackles, two tackles for loss, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

Indiana had 279 yards on offense. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby completed 15 of 31 passes (48.4%) for 126 yards, one touchdown, 11 carries for 49 yards, and one touchdown.

Indiana running back Trent Howland had nine carries for 54 yards, and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. made one catch for 35 yards, and one touchdown. Indiana’s defense made 60 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup.
