Penn State loses its first game of the season at Ohio State

The Penn State Nittany Lions (6-1) suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon against the Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0) from Ohio Stadium.

This was the 38th all-time meeting between these two teams dating back to 1912. Out of the 38 games played against Ohio State, Penn State won 13 of them.

The Nittany Lions had lost six straight games to the Buckeyes coming into this game. The last time the Nittany Lions beat Ohio State was in 2016. The losing streak continued on Saturday.

Penn State had 255 yards on offense. Quarterback Drew Allar completed 18 of 43 passes (41.9%) for 191 yards, and one touchdown in a 20-12 loss to the Buckeyes.

Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton had nine carries for 48 yards, and one catch for six yards. Wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith made six catches for 52 yards, and Kaden Saunders caught two passes for 25 yards, and one touchdown. Penn State’s defense made 77 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, and five pass breakups.

Ohio State had 365 yards on offense. Quarterback Kyle McCord made 22 of 35 passes (62.9%) for 286 yards and one touchdown. Running back Miyan Williams had 24 carries for 62 yards and one touchdown.

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. made 11 catches for 162 yards and one touchdown. Ohio State’s defense made 57 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and six pass breakups.
