Ryan Chyzowski scores Reading’s only goal in a loss to Newfoundland

Ryan Chyzowski scored the only goal for the Royals on Saturday night against Newfoundland.

The Reading Royals (0-2) continued their three-game series against the Newfoundland Growlers (2-0) on Saturday evening from the Mary Brown’s Centre.

After a scoreless first period, Newfoundland took on a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Grant Cruikshank. Jackson Berezowski and Tyler Weiss assisted with his goal.

Four minutes and thirty-one seconds later, Neil Shea made it 2-0 Growlers with assists from Brock Caufield and Tate Singleton. Two minutes later, Brock Caufield scored which made it 3-0 Growlers with assists by Tate Singleton and Neil Shea. The Royals had 13 shots on goal but trailed 3-0 after two periods.

Four minutes and sixteen seconds into the third period, Ryan Chyzowski scored for the Royals. It was 3-1 Newfoundland. Late in the third period, Neil Shea scored his second goal of the night with assists from Brock Caufield and Jacob Modry.

The Royals lost their second straight game to the Growlers by the final score of 4-1. Reading had 21 shots on goal, 0 for 1 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 22 of 25 saves.
