Reading Royals go home empty-handed to close out the weekend

The Reading Royals (0-3) concluded the weekend at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Sunday afternoon against the Newfoundland Growlers (3-0).

After two scoreless periods, The Growlers got on the board 1-0 at 12:15 in the third period when Jackson Berezowski scored. Brock Caufield and Cory Dennis assisted with his goal.

A minute and three seconds later, Reading’s Yvan Mongo tied the game 1-1 with assists from Adam Brubacher and Joseph Nardi. After 60 minutes, the game went to overtime.

Two minutes and three seconds into overtime, Jackson Berezowski ended the game scoring his second goal of the afternoon with an assist by Tyler Weiss. The Royals lost to the Growlers by the final score of 2-1 in overtime. The Royals had 35 shots on goal, went 0 for 6 on the power play, and Jacob Kucharski made 24 saves off 26 shots.
