The Memphis are searching for a new head coach as Todd Haley will not be returning to coach the Memphis Showboats in 2024. Defensive Coordinator Carnell Lake is a name to watch for potentially being named the new Showboats Head Coach.

In 2023, Haley guided the Showboats to a 5-5 record in a competitive South Division. Memphis was ranked sixth in passing yards per game (172.4), sixth in passing touchdowns (10), sixth in rushing yards per game (85.9), and seventh in rushing touchdowns (4).

Haley was named the head coach of the Tampa Bay Bandits on January 6, 2022. The Bandits finished 4-6 in the 2022 season. Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu led the league completing 172 of 302 passes (57%) for 2,015 yards, 14 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 59 carries for 365 yards, and one touchdown.

The Bandits were ranked fifth in passing yards (1,860), fifth in passing yards per game (186.0), sixth in rushing yards (938), sixth in running yards per game (93.8), and sixth in total yards (2,798). After the season, the Bandits were rebranded as the Showboats.

Before the USFL, Haley coached in the NFL for 13 yards. He started as a scouting assistant for the New York Jets in 1995. He was later promoted to Wide receivers coach in 1997. He would hold the same position for the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.

In 2007, Haley was promoted to Offensive Coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals. He guided the Cardinals to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance in 2008. Then, he was named the Head Coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent three seasons as the Chiefs head coach with a 19-26 record. His best season came in 2010 leading the Chiefs to the playoffs but were eliminated in the Wild Card round against the Baltimore Ravens. He was fired in 2011 after going 5-8 in the regular season.

After Kansas City, Haley was the Offensive Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers for six seasons, and Cleveland Browns in 2018. He would be the Offensive Coordinator for Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, for two seasons before making the jump to the USFL.
