The Toronto Argonauts signed defensive tackle Ralph Holley and defensive back Amani Dennis on Monday. Both players played for the Philadelphia Stars this season.
Ralph Holley is six foot one and weighs 285 pounds. The 24-year-old from West Bloomfield, Michigan, made three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists) in four games for the Stars in 2023. The Stars signed Holley as a free agent on May 19, 2022.
In 2022, Holley made nine tackles (3 solo, 6 assists), one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in five games. In the playoffs, Holley made five tackles (2 solo, 5 assists).
Collegiately, Holley played five seasons at Western Michigan (2017-21) with 138 tackles (77 solo, 61 assists), 45.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 50 games for the Mustangs.
Holley helped the Broncos win the 2021 Quick Lane Bowl over Nevada 52-24 with four tackles (2 solos) and a 0.5 sack. He was named to the Second Team All-MAC honors.
Amani Dennis is five foot eleven and weighs 180 pounds. The 26-year-old from Wheeling, Illinois, made 30 tackles (24 solo, 6 assists), three interceptions for 128 yards, one touchdown, two fumble recoveries, and seven pass breakups in ten games for the Stars in 2023.
The Stars drafted Dennis in the fourth round (311th pick) of the 2023 USFL Supplemental Draft. In 2022, Dennis made 42 tackles (30 solo, 12 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 29 yards, and ten pass breakups in ten games. In the playoffs, Dennis made eight tackles (6 solo, 2 assists), one interception for 16 yards, and two pass breakups. Before Philadelphia, Dennis played for the Generals (TSL) in 2021.
Collegiately, Dennis played three seasons at Carthage (2016-18) with 100 tackles (73 solo, 27 assists), three tackles for loss, 11 interceptions for 145 yards, two touchdowns, 33 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, three kick returns for 67 yards, and three punt returns for 17 yards in 29 games for the Firebirds. He was named First Team All-CCIW in 2019, and a two-time All-College Conference of Illinois.
