The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Chris Coleman and defensive back Jacob Dearborn on Tuesday. In addition, the Ticats released wide receiver Anthony Johnson.
Chris Coleman is five foot eleven and weighs 192 pounds. The 24-year-old from Bakersfield, California, signed with the Ticats on September 26, 2023, but was released on October 12, 2023. Before Hamilton, Coleman signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played three preseason games with two catches for 17 yards.
Collegiately, Coleman played four seasons at Fresno State (2017-20) with 16 catches for 265 yards, one touchdown, two carries for three yards, and four kick returns for 69 yards in 25 games for the Bulldogs.
Then, Coleman transferred to Cal Pony (2021-22) with 48 catches for 702 yards, five touchdowns, one kick return for nine yards, and two punt returns for 16 yards in 11 games for the Mustangs. He was named the team’s Co-offensive Player of the Year in 2021.
Jacob Dearborn is six foot three and weighs 201 pounds. The 29-year-old from Yarker, Ontario, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He played two seasons for the Roughriders with 18 tackles, six tackles on special teams, and two interceptions in ten games.
Collegiately, Dearborn started at Holland College (2013-15) winning three straight Moosehead Cups, and was named AFL All-Star in 2015.
Then, he transferred to Carleton University (2016-18) with 50.5 tackles (38 solo, 25 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, seven interceptions for 90 yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and eight pass breakups in 23 games for the Ravens.
Anthony Johnson is six foot two and weighs 220 pounds. The 28-year-old from Rock Hill, South Carolina, made two catches for 24 yards in one game for the Ticats in 2023.
Last year, Johnson made 13 catches for 250 yards, and one touchdown for the Ticats in 2022. Before Hamilton, Johnson spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Collegiately, Johnson played one season at Butler Community College in 2014 with 21 catches for 559 yards, five touchdowns, and two kick returns for 86 yards in 11 games for the Grizzlies.
Then, he transferred to Iowa Western Community College in 2015 with 19 catches for 434 yards, two touchdowns, one carry for 11 yards, and 21 kick returns for 480 yards in 12 games for the Reivers. Next, he transferred to Buffalo (2017-18) with 133 catches for 2,367 yards, 25 touchdowns, and one kick return for 13 yards in 25 games for the Bulls.
