The Villanova Wildcats (6-2) hosted the Stony Brook Seawolves (0-8) on Saturday afternoon from Villanova Stadium in their seventh all-time meeting dating back to 2012. The Wildcats won three straight games against Stony Brook. That streak would continue on Saturday.
Villanova had 556 yards on offense. Quarterback Connor Watkins completed 13 of 19 passes (68.4%) for 361 yards, four touchdowns, and four carries for 34 yards leading the Wildcats to a 48-13 win over the Seawolves. The Wildcats have now won four straight games against Stony Brook.
Villanova running back Jalen Jackson had eight carries for 77 yards and one touchdown. Wide receivers Rayjuon Pringle, Jaylan Sanchez, and Jaaron Hayek combined made 14 catches logging 401 yards, and four touchdowns. Villanova’s defense made 71 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and one interception.
Stony Brook had 294 yards on offense. Quarterback Casey Case completed 12 of 22 passes (54%) for 113 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one carry for two yards. Backup quarterback Daron Bryden completed 10 of 15 passes (66%) for 85 yards, and one touchdown.
Running back Roland Dempster had 12 carries for 55 yards, and wide receiver Anthony Johnson led the receivers with 11 carries for 90 yards. Stony Brook’s defense made 43 tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery.
