Reading Royals get their first win of the regular season

The Reading Royals (1-2-1-1) concluded a two-game homestand on Sunday afternoon against the Trois-Rivières Lions (4-1) from the Santander Arena.

Nine minutes and fifty seconds into the first period, the Lions took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Chris Ortiz with assists from Nolan Yaremko and Justin Ducharme.

At 19:38, the Royals tied the game 1-1 on a power play goal by Ryan Chyzowski with assists by Darren Brady and Devon Paliani. The game remained tied 1-1 after one period. The Royals had eight shots on goal in the first period.

Three minutes and fifty-three seconds into the second period, Adam Brubacher put the Royals up 2-1 with assists from Darren Brady and Ryan Chyzowski. A minute later, the Lions tied the game 2-2 on a goal by Matthew Boucher with an assist by Eric Hjorth.

Thirteen seconds later, Tyson Fawcett put the Royals back up 3-2 with assists from Shane Sellar and Ryan Chyzowski. The Royals had 13 shots on goal in the second period and led 3-2 with one period left to play.

Two minutes and eleven seconds into the third period, Miguël Tourigny tied the game for the Lions 3-3. Then, at 4:50, Austin Master put Reading back up 4-3 with an assist by Joseph Nardi. Three minutes and one second later, Matthew Boucher added another goal tying the game again 4-4 with assists from Eric Hjorth and Alex-Olivier Voyer.

At 8:17, the Royals took the lead again 5-4 by Solag Bakich with an assist from Alec Butcher. Next, Maxim Trépanier once again tied the game 5-5 at 12:25 with assists from Brycen Martin and Joe Vrbetic.

Reading would once again take the lead 6-5 at 16:15 by Joseph Nardi. Yvan Mongo assisted with his goal. Two minutes and three seconds later, Matthew Boucher completed the hat trick scoring a power play goal tying the game 6-6 with assists by Miguël Tourigny and Alex-Olivier Voyer.

With 55 seconds left in the game, Tyson Fawcett scored his second goal of the game for a 7-6 lead with an assist by Devon Paliani. The Royals held on to beat the Lions 7-6 for their first win of the season.

The Royals finished the afternoon with 30 shots on goal, committed four penalties, went 1 for 4 on the power play, and goalie Jacob Kucharski made 35 saves off 41 shots.
